25th Annual NCMC Foundation Gala Sets Attendance and Fundraising Record
The 25th Annual North Colorado Medical Center Foundation Gala, presented by Noble Energy, raised a record $220,000 for the North Colorado Medical Center Cancer Institute on January 25th. A record-setting 700 guests turned out for the “Masquerade in Venice” themed black tie affair held at the Embassy Suites in Loveland.
Long-time Greeley resident and NCMC Foundation board member Mike Shoop was honored with the Foundation Legacy Award, presented annually to an outstanding individual or organization for their distinguished service and commitment to improving healthcare in our region.
“The annual NCMC Foundation Gala has evolved into one of the premier fundraising events in northern Colorado,” said Chris Kiser, NCMC Foundation president. “We are pleased to be able to raise money for the Cancer Institute, as well as to have 700 people attend an event celebrating the overall excellence of NCMC.”
Proceeds from the 2014 Gala will be directed towards technology upgrades and expansion of the NCMC Cancer Institute, which will undergo a $10 million renovation beginning in the fall of 2014. The NCMC Foundation is embarking on a capital campaign to raise philanthropic support for the Cancer Institute, which will provide the latest in cancer treatment technology to patients at NCMC.
Guests were treated to Italian style cuisine and specialty drinks; the opportunity to bid on more than 85 one-of-a-kind silent auction items including suite seats at premiere sporting events, autographed Denver Broncos jerseys, concert tickets and much more. The evening also featured Greeley Unexpected artist Armando Silva, who painted and auctioned two original art pieces while onlookers watched his performance during the cocktail hour. Entertainment highlights of “Masquerade in Venice” featuring Soul Libre included a stilt walker, contortionist, juggler, tightrope walker, hand-to-hand balancing act, aerial lyra and silk fabric performances, and a rocking violinist. A lucky guest won a pair of sophisticated diamond hoop earrings with three quarters karat weight mounted in 14-karat white gold valued at $2,500 courtesy of Weiss Jewelers of Greeley.
The NCMC Foundation, founded in 1975, has served as NCMC’s philanthropic partner in supporting healthcare at NCMC and in the community. During that time, the Foundation has been entrusted as stewards of over $50 million in charitable gifts.
